Introduction to Competition and Consumer Law

Developed in partnership with Margaret Barron, Barrister and Solicitor to the Supreme Court of South Australia and author of 'The Fundamentals of Business Law', e3 has developed four modules providing training for Australian businesses in the Competition and Consumer Law Act 2010 (formally the Trade Practices Act 1974). An overview is outlined below:

Learning Outcomes

These modules will help staff to:

  • Understand your legal obligations to consumers and other businesses
  • Reduce the risk of a breach of the Act
  • Understanding your obligations under the CCL will ensure you comply with it.

It may also improve:

  • The quality and safety of your products
  • Your quality of service to customers
  • The profitability of your business
  • The reputation of your business, and
  • Consumer trust in your business

The other benefit of training is that if a breach does occur and your business has implemented a compliance program, including the training of staff may reduce the penalty that is imposed for breaching the Act.

Estimated Duration

Each module is approximately 30 - 40 minutes in duration.

Target Audience

These modules are intended for company managers and employees who are in a position to breach the anti-competitive practices provisions of the CCL while working for their company.
