Manual Handling in Aged Care

This course has been developed with Physiotherapists providing an award winning patient handling program in South Australia. The course is written with national scope. The course will provide the theoretical component of patient handling for all staff in aged care facilities.

Approximately half of all workplace related injuries that occur each year are caused while performing manual handling tasks.

  • An understanding of why manual handling injuries occur
  • An understanding of the physical principles relating to manual handling
  • Some practical direction on how to perform manual handling tasks safely, and
  • An awareness of the risks associated with manual handling, specifically in the aged care sector, and how to control them
